Great Camp Sagamore
Raquette Lake, New York

Sagamore is in the heart of the Adirondacks.  There isn’t any public transportation to Sagamore.  Amtrak serves Albany (Rensselaer), Saratoga, and Utica.  The nearest public airports are located in Syracuse and Albany.  Bus service reaches only to Warrensburg, NY.  Limousine service is available from the airports in Syracuse and Albany. 

 

Directions:
From Albany (2½ hours)
Take the Warrensburg Exit #23 off the I-87 (not the thruway - 90!).  Follow Rte. 9 through Warrensburg to Rte. 28.  Follow Rte. 28 through the towns of Wevertown, North Creek, North River, Indian Lake, and Blue Mountain Lake.  At the “T” in Blue Mountain Lake, Rte. 28 makes a left turn.  Follow Rte. 28 into the village of Raquette Lake.

From Utica (1½ hours)
Take the Utica Exit #31 off the NYS Thruway (I-90).  Follow Rte. 12 North to Rte. 28 North.  Follow Rte. 28 through the towns of  Alder Creek, Forestport, Woodgate, Thendara, Old Forge, Eagle Bay, and Inlet.  Stay on Rte. 28 to the village of Raquette Lake.

From Lake Placid (2 hours)
Follow Rte. 86 to Saranac Lake and then Rte. 3 to Tupper Lake where you will follow Rte. 30 to Long Lake.  At the “T” in Long Lake, you will make a right and continue to Blue Mountain Lake.  Stay on the same road in Blue Mountain Lake, it will become Rte. 28.  Follow it to the village of Raquette Lake.

In the village of Raquette Lake at the 4-way crossroads turn onto the dirt road beside the large green Sagamore sign.  Drive very slowly on the road into Sagamore; one curve is posted 15 mph. 

Registered Guests: Follow the sign for “Registered Guests”.  When you arrive at Sagamore, you should find the gate closed.  Please open it, enter, and close it again for your own privacy.  Drive up the hill to the parking lot.  Park your car and follow the gravel pathway and signs for the Conference Building, and enter the door labeled “Office.”

Tour Guests:  Outside the village of Raquette Lake
At the 4-way crossroads on Route 28, turn onto the dirt road beside the large green Great Camp Sagamore sign.  Drive very slowly on the road into Sagamore; one curve is posted 15 mph. After approximately 3.5 miles, you will reach a "Y" in the road.

Follow the sign for "Tour Guests." This will take you over a bridge and up a short hill. The parking lot is to the right. Please park your car here, and then walk to the Chalet for ticket sales, our gift shop and snack shop.

For Buses
All buses should follow the sign for "Tour Guests." (Do not drive over the "Register Guest" bridge - it cannot accommodate buses.) You will cross a bridge and go up a small hill. Take a left after the first red/brown building on your left. There is a gate across the road which can be opened if a staff member is not awaiting you. Beyond the gate, past the woodshed to the left is a handicapped parking area. Please back into this space. At that point, passengers may disembark. The bus may remain here until the end of the tour.

PLEASE NOTE! Gas Stations & ATM machines are few & far between in the Adirondack Mountains. 
We recommend that you stop & fill up your tank before leaving the main highways!
